SHOE MAKERS SINCE 1936

Our story began in London in the late 1800s when Adelman Goodman started his working life as a clicker in the East End. But it was a move to Norfolk that really saw the company prosper. Having moved to Norwich, he founded The Florida Group and started making ladies shoes in the city in 1936.

In 1946 the name Van Dal first came to prominence.

Established to target wholesale consumers the brand quickly built a reputation for making quality wider fitting shoes.

New collections were launched, including one named ‘Norfolk Broads’ (which unfortunately didn’t translate too well in the US!), and the brand has since become one of the UK’s oldest and most respected suppliers of wider fitting shoes.
