When were LEGOs first invented?
LEGO bricks first appeared when Ole Kirk Kristiansen, a master carpenter and joiner, began making wooden toys. He created the LEGO name by combining two Danish words, “leg godt”, meaning “play well”, which was officially used from January 1936 onwards. Ole Kirk Kristiansen created LEGO committed to children’s development through quality play. Over the next 90 years, LEGO would become a global phenomenon, even having its own movies and theme parks!
What is the most expensive LEGO set?
The most expensive LEGO sets currently available are the Millennium Falcon and AT-AT from the LEGO Star Wars series. However, LEGO has become a collector's item, and many sets have become worth hundreds, even thousands of pounds. Retired sets are especially sought after, with the LEGO Space Command Center from 1978 valued at over $10,000!
